I have a site that I discovered has a 9gb sessions table. This is despite having the configuration set to PHP for the session handler and the time limit set to 10 minutes. First question is what is going on and how to stop it from filling up that table.
Second question is more SQL related. If I go into phpmyadmin (on a fairly low power VPS) and tell it to Empty that table will it be able to do so without bringing everything down? I'm not the greatest at SQL so not sure how Empty works. Will it just flush it all at once without using many system resources or will it send 44 million+ delete commands and overload everything?
