you can switch to dark mode in J5
There are plugins to toggle dark mode - click the button once, dark, click again, and back to default.
I use this one: https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/sis-darkmode/ - install the module, activate it, set the module position in Atum template to "status" and turn the "display module title" Off. Done.
I don't know if that affects things like editors, CodeMirror specifically.
