Hello Webdongle,
Your advice does not change anything.
In my case (local development laptop: WAMP, Joomla v.5.2.1) there is no Default-button (nor Star) in the Template-page, but only in the Style-page. I can only make the child-Style default (for what use?) but not the child-template.
I also tried the same on a testsite (Joomla v.5.2.1) in an other Hosting-location.
I created a child-template from Cassiopeia.
Here too: The child-Style can be made default, but not the child-template itself, because there is no Default-button on the 'Templates: Templates (Site)' page (and no orange star).
By the way, Joomla backend made a child-Style and a copy of child-Style, so now I have 3 template-Styles: original Cassiopeia-style, child of Cassiopeia-style, and copy of child of Cassiopeia-style.
Regards, Sthop
